Okay, Record Boy, you aksed fer it!!!!
Here's my list of "Favorite 5 albums if I were stranded on the Island of Deserted People"....
Why? Why not? ANYBODY can play air guitar to this album, especially to "Inside Looking Out" (and all of us 15-year-olds did!) So, if you want something relatively easy to use for teaching the natives how to play Air Guitar (if there ARE any natives), THIS IS IT!!
2) The Beatles: Something New! (CAPITOL RECORDS VINYL RELEASE)
Side A:
I'll Cry Instead
Things We Said Today
Any Time At All
When I Get Home
Slow Down
Matchbox
Side B:
Tell Me Why
And I Love Her
I'm Happy Just To Dance With You
If I Fell
Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand (I Want to Hold Your Hand)
Are these the HAPPIEST songs on the planet or WHAT? They're not overplayed, and they will take care of you when your Paxil runs out! Never a grey day when you have this record!
3) Disney's Wonderful World of Color featuring Professor Ludwig Von Drake
(released in early 60's)
Ludwig SINGS ALL of the songs on this album. (The first side, anyway!) I will play this when I need to be reminded of the innocence of my youth, as Ludwig sings:
Blah, blah, blah-blah-blah-blah, (forgot this line)
Green, Chartreuse and Aqua
Red, Blue, Ultramarine,
and every color in between!
Color has its harmony and just as I have said
"Red red green yellow blue blue blue red purple green yellow orange red!..."
I can't believe I still remember the words...
Ludwig DOES actually refer to the record as a LICORICE PIZZA while you're listening to it... I wish I still had this one so I could play it FOR MY KIDS. And secretly listen to it in the car! (before becoming deserted, of course)
4) Meet the Beatles (same reasons as 2 and 3)
5) Coltrane Plays the Blues (Just because..)
5A) There is NO ELECTRICITY on the island, so I would bring my HORN and lots of REEDS.
5B) I would eat the records, since they were made of LICORICE. (I still have all of them in 12" except Ludwig's)
5C) I'd go find EVERYBODY ELSE FROM THE CONTEST on the island and start a raft-building party. Woo Hoo!!!
