The Neville Brothers

So after many many moons (some yellow) of waiting to see the Nevilles in concert, finally the other night we got to.  So disappointing.  Some of the songs sounded like they rehearsed and were pretty tight. And Aaron was there and sang about 3 or 4 songs, including "Ain't No Sunshine" which was really good. Of course that was a Bill Withers song. I wanted to hear "Tell it Like It Is" or "Yellow Moon" or "Fire and Brimstone" or "Sons and Daughters" or "The River of Life" or "Fearless" or anything like those, but no.......

They sang "Fly Like An Eagle" and "Love the One You're With" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and the "Ain't No Sunshine/Slipping into Darkness" medley and "Get Up Stand Up" and even "Foxy Lady."

Someone tell me they have a new album out with these kinds of cover tunes or something. It was pretty pitiful, I thought.  They shouldn't have come out and done a sloppy two-song encore either.  It just degenerated, energy-wise and quality-wise.

I'll have to go see ‘em in Nawlins.
