GAME THEORY - Lolita Nation  [Enigma 73280]  Released: 1987

This was a 2 record set before 2 record sets were cool again.  27 tracks of pure power pop bliss.  From the opening track "Kenneth, What's The Frequency" (Hmmm, wonder what record Michael Stipe probably owned) on, this record was inventive in it's segues, and brilliant in it's writing and performance.  Sure, some folks find Scott Miller's tenor a little high - but screw them, it's perfect in every way.  Hooks, hooks, hooks and that crystal clear Mitch Easter production add up to a perfect record.  Plenty of tunes to do your favorite Peanuts dance to, and some jaw droppingly beautiful moments to catch a breather to.  Game Theory (Miller) were at their peak here, and it would never be this good again.  For all of us.
