Hey, Rich Feld here in the
wilds of Tennessee. Okay, I haven't thought of this for years. Kiel Auditorium,
St. Louis Missouri, circa 1976. STYX! And they did stunk. Hey, I was never that
big of a fan, but went with a pal. They were alright on record, but on stage
that night? Oh my God. Harmonies were off and weak, etc. I could've forgiven
them for a bad night, until the lead player did a lame ass version of "The
Star Spangled Banner" on his strat, then proceeded to lay the guitar flat,
do the motions with his fingers like Hendrix did when he burned it (of course
this jaboney didn't), and then he jumped up like he was going to destroy the
guitar, then leaned over, laid it flat, and gently slid it about two feet
across the floor! Oh the misery! Puke-a-rama! The bad taste stays with me to
this day!
