Weezer: Live In Ft. Lauderdale Fla.
Rock 'n' Roll is not flawless. Bands aren't suppose to hit every note perfectly in concert, but they are expected to play loud and put on a show for their fans. That's what Weezer did at their recent sell-out Sunrise Musical Show in Ft. Lauderdale. The performance was flawless as Rivers Cuomo showed no signs of dust after a four-year hiatus.
The show started with “My Name Is Jonas” from their debut album and went non-stop ‘til the close with punk rocker “Surf Wax America”. Beginning with the opening chords the crowd was standing and waving their hands through the entire show. I can't remember a show where the audience was this enthusiastic. Reaction from the crowd was so overwhelming that songs from the Pinkerton album like “The Good Life” went over with as much reaction as “Say It Isn't So” which was a hit. The band went through all their hits “Buddy Holly”, “Undone-The Sweater Song” and three new songs including “Hash Pipe”, which sounded like Golden Earring's “Radar Love”.
If this show was any indication of the future, Weezer's time away was well spent and like seeing an old friend, was a welcome relief to today's current musical flavor.
